History of our Camp
The camp has been growing steadily in both numbers and reputation since it first began in the summer of 2003. Located on the Britton Ranch, the terrain has lent itself well as a great representation of Middle Earth. The camp was started by the ECYD and ConQuest Boys’ Clubs in Alberta, and is affiliated with the Catholic Youth World Network. These are all apostolates of Regnum Christi, which is an officially recognized movement at the service of the church.
What makes us Legendary
From the earliest stages of planning, the idea was to create an experience the boys would never forget. After all, what boy could fail to remember using swords, shields, balloons and trebuchets against an Orc army of dads? The boys prove themselves as Knights through tests of strength, knowledge, skill and virtue. Each year the Orcs get smarter and stronger (mostly stronger…), making it increasingly more challenging for the boys to overcome them. There are many surprise characters, both friend and foe, lurking around in these forests.
For the Dads
The dads who are able to attend help make this camp what it is. They become an extension of the adult leadership and play an essential role in making the camp exciting, safe, and full of surprises. Their tasks include mentoring, setting up theatrical scenes and ambushes, role playing various characters, and of course forming the Orc army to battle the boys.
